“It really is a testament to your mentoring that I won this award. You were so wise to encourage me to just take the story and the characters at my own pace, and really work at my craft. “
Dr Louise Powell, author, playwright and winner of the Sid Chaplin Award 2023
Mentoring is as unique as every mentor. My mentoring practice is to understand where your writing comes from; why you want to write this work and how you need to say it – and then to sweep away all the things that are getting in the way of you telling your story your way. Together we’ll work on the personal narratives that hold you back and the tools of the craft to help you realise your work.
“You do know thats its your skill that brings it out of people don’t you? You took us on a playful journey – I’m still wondering where my work came from! You are an amazing creative writing leader.”
Workshop Attendee November 2023
How it works
- We have a chat about your creative goals, where you are now and what you want to achieve.
- You send me an extract of your work. I read and write notes. I summarise the notes into discussion points for our focused meeting.
- We meet in person or on Zoom and talk through the discussion points. This is a collaborative process where we identify your next steps!
- You leave with a plan to take your writing forward.
- You can return for the next stages or you feel confident to move on with new insights and strategies.
